Newspaper digitization
Lister’s e-paper solutions provide both conversions of current and archival contents for the newspaper market. Our rich experience facilitates smooth handling of technical and logistical complexities of projects with which we specialize in digitizing newspapers.
With most of our clients, our process generally starts with a High Resolution Scanning. The scanning includes microfilms, microfiche, aperture cards as well as hard copy newspapers. The material is generally scanned in to TIFF/JPEG format. We also do further classification and segmentation of metadata both at article and page level before delivering the output as searchable PDF or METS/ALTO XML formats.
Newspaper Digitization can be classified into two categories:
- Archive Newspapers
- Current Newspapers
Digitization of Archive Newspapers
Lister has digitized large numbers of newspapers from the 18th to 21st century for national and academic research libraries, local historical societies, newspaper publishers and commercial aggregators around the globe.
